Why is DMF so great? Americans/Ducatisti/???

Ladies and Gentlemen....

I'm not used to hanging out in places where "everyone" is so friendly, constructive, polite and helpful. Here in Norway, or maybe in Europe as a whole, forums and biker hang outs are often not anything like the DMF. It has been and continues to be a very nice experience. It has doubled the value of my ownership.

Why is it so? I know that Americans are considered to be outgoing - which is also my experience - do you think that's the explanation or has it something to do with the Ducati/small brand/"soul"? I've also been thinking that only good people will spend time helping others online, but that would then also apply for other forums - which it doesn't.

Thoughts?

I have to say that not everyone here is "friendly, constructive, polite and helpful" as you put it ... BUT (big BUT here) the vast majority are (as with any community, you will find naysayers and assholes, this place just happens to be full of very friendly people).

And its nice to know that if you have a question you can come here and ask. I don't know if its limited to americans though. I have a tendency to believe its the folks that set up this place. They treat people with respect and expect others to do the same.

There's also plenty of other places for people to play if they don't want to buy into the friendly, generally pc atmosphere here so that helps as well. People have an option of sandboxes to play in and can find a place that fits them best.

I agree, but when the two largest Monster forums (DML and now the DMF) have both been/is unique, I'm wondering why these in particular have ended up being run by moderators/flounders and supported by "good" people. Anything to do with the model/brand?

Anyway, I'm still thinking it must be (just a little?) connected to the US spirit.

To prove my point-  who else would consider me to be a ....... (see next post)

They really aren't two seperate forums that happened to both be cool. This is just the true membership of TOB that migrated.

Hmmmm. . .
Can't really agree with the American aspect, as the forum is worldwide.
And not everyone is friendly/helpful/courteous all of the time.
We all have bad patches.
I think a large part of it IS the flounders.
If someone wants to be an asshole, and won't take a hint, they get das boot, and go elsewhere.

Works for me.

It's funny I've met a couple of DML/DMF'ers on rides in random places. These guys also happen to be really nice and want to hang no matter the difference in skill.

Forgive me if i'm just not catching on if you're joking but if you didn't know, flounders = founders = ducpainter, statler, etc.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

This forum is unique, and not because it is a Ducati forum, it just is.  As hbliam said, the DMF is a continuation of TOB.  Our Flounders also play an important part with their hard work and great approach to moderating.  Our members like you from the other side of both ponds add a special flavor to this forum also.
